BOYS BASKETBALL: Forks’ Baysinger named Pacific League MVP

FORKS — Forks’ Trey Baysinger capped off his senior season for the Spartans by being named the Pacific League boys’ basketball MVP.

Baysinger led the Spartans to a league title this year. He is a multi-sport athlete who also starred for the Spartans’ baseball and football teams and continues to play baseball for Wilder Sr.

Forks head coach Rick Gooding also was named the Pacific League Coach of the Year in Forks’ first year in the 2B league.

Also honored by the league were Forks’ assistant coaches, Cameron LeDuke, Dustin Feasel and Scott Baysinger.

Trey Baysinger averaged a double-double in his monster season — 22.1 points a game and 14.1 rebounds a game. He also averaged 3.9 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

Several other Forks players were honored in all-league voting. Spartans Logan Olson and Tony Flores-Hernandez made the boys’ second team, while Riley Pursley make the third team.

“I believe that we had the two best guards in the league in Tony and Logan. They are honored to be recognized on second team, but I felt they were first-team guys. Raymond Davis should have been on one of the teams as well,” Gooding said.

Forks’ Ryan Rancourt made the league’s all-academic team.

For the girls, Forks’ Chloe Leverington was named to the league’s first team. Keira Johnson was named to the second team, while Kadie Wood was named to the third team. Making the honorable mention team was Kyra Neel.
