PORT ANGELES — After a regionwide search, the Port Angeles Lefties are going local with their public address announcer for home games at Civic Field.

The Lefties have hired Port Angeles resident Dan Harvey to be their PA announcer. Harvey will emcee all home games, introduce the lineups and serve as master of ceremonies. Harvey also will be the voice of Lefties sponsorship announcements, contests and upcoming events. He fills out the press box with Lefties radio/TV broadcaster Bryan Sleik, whose hiring was announced earlier this winter.

The Lefties held a search over the winter throughout the North Olympic Peninsula for their PA announcer.

“Dan is a unique talent,” said Lefties Owner Matt Acker. “We had some excellent candidates come through, but Dan stood out from the start. He had a different take on things and an old-school voice; he’s a DJ, so he knows how to run a party and pace the fun.

“He has a real feel for the pulse of the game and the crowd. We’re excited to have him on board. And thanks to everyone who came out for the contest, both in front of the mic and the amazing crowds who cheered them on. We’re looking forward to that same enthusiasm filling the stands this summer.”

Harvey comes to Port Angeles from San Leandro, Calif., and has a lifelong love of the Oakland A’s.

In 2012, Harvey moved to Port Angeles to help family and has never looked back. He found his talent for announcing as a karaoke bar host at Bar N9ne and has hosted other local events like the Run-A-Muck.

“I am beyond thrilled to be part of the great history of Peninsula baseball,” said Harvey. “I can’t wait to announce our team the new champions of the West Coast League. I will see you all at the ball field, and stay classy Port Angeles.”
