BASEBALL: Forks sweeps road doubleheader

Salazar drives in four in game 2

RAYMOND — Forks plated 29 runs on 20 hits in sweeping a Pacific League baseball doubleheader with Raymond-South Bend 11-1 and 18-7 on Wednesday.

Aiden Salazar earned the win on the mound in game two, allowing six runs, four earned, on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Salazar helped his own cause by driving in four runs on three singles to pace the Spartans.

Salazar drove in two of his four runs during Forks’ nine-run fourth inning. Dylan Micheau added a two-run double, Gunner Rogers and Emmanuel Hernandez-Stansbury each added RBI singles and Landin Davis capped the big inning with a two-run double.

Forks stole 12 bases in the opener, led by Gunner Rogers’ three bag swipes. Rogers also went the distance on the mound, allowing one run on five hits and no walks with nine strikeouts in six innings pitched.

Landen Olson went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, three runs scored and two driven in to pace the Spartans’ offense.

Davis also doubled as part of a two-hit game and scored twice.

Micheau also doubled and scored, and Hernandez-Stansbury drove in a run for Forks (4-1, 6-2).

The Spartans host Ocosta for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
