KINGSTON — Starting pitcher Nizhoni Wheeler gave up just one run on two hits while striking out 12 in six innings as the Roughriders blistered the Buccaneers.
“[We] hit the ball hard, received great pitching and committed zero errors on defense,” Port Angeles coach Randy Steinman said.
Natalie Steinman was 4 for 5 with a double, three runs and three stolen bases for the Riders.
Sierra Robinson also was strong at the plate and on the bases for Port Angeles, going 4 for 5 with four runs, an RBI and three stolen bases.
The Riders (5-0, 13-0) visit North Mason (0-7, 1-10) on Monday.

BREMERTON — The Wolves kept pace with Port Angeles in the race for the Olympic League 2A Division’s top spot with a win against the Trojans.
Sequim (5-0, 11-1) and Port Angeles (5-0, 13-0) are tied for first and will play Wednesday in Sequim.
Against Olympic, the Wolves broke open a 2-2 tie with a three-run fifth inning highlighted by a two-out, two-run home run by Kaylee Gumm.
Nicole Anders’ RBI double brought home Chloie Sparks for a 5-2 Sequim lead.
The Wolves’ cushion grew to 8-2 entering the bottom of the seventh before a three-run home run by Olympic’s Sage Scott with two-outs.
McKenzie Bentz went the distance for Sequim, allowing five runs, all unearned, on eight hits while striking out seven.
The Wolves overcame four errors.
Sequim and Olympic (4-2, 7-4) will play again Tuesday in Sequim.

LA CONNER — Balanced production up and down the lineup and strong pitching from Bailey Kieffer led the Class 1B Rangers to a win against the 2B Braves.
Quilcene pounded out 14 hits by eight different players in Thursday’s game.
Kieffer had two of those hits, including a triple, and an RBI.
She also pitched a complete-game seven-hitter, racking up 12 strikeouts.
“What I liked most about Bailey’s performance was zero walks,” Rangers coach Mark Thompson said.
Quilcene (2-0, 7-2) visits Muckleshoot (0-2, 0-2) on Tuesday for a doubleheader.

Forks drops pair to Hoquiam
FORKS — The Spartans are still chasing their first Evergreen League win after losing to the Grizzlies twice last week.
Forks lost 15-0 in three innings at Hoquiam on Tuesday, and 17-1 in four inning in Forks on Friday.
English Hydell threw a one-hitter and Kylie Stewart hit two home runs for the Grizzlies in Tuesday’s tilt.
Samantha Winger had the Spartans’ only hit.
On Friday, Hydel earned her second win of the week, and Brianna Hotchkiss and Lydia LaLonde each hit homers for Hoquiam.
Forks (0-11, 4-11) plays Elma (4-5, 4-8) twice next week, first at Elma on Tuesday and then in Forks on Thursday.

KINGSTON — The Roughriders used aggressive base running to edge the Buccaneers in an Olympic League 2A Division road victory.
Matt Hendry walked, stole second and was brought home on an RBI single by Eathen Boyer to put Port Angeles up 1-0 in the top of the first. Two-out singles by Luke Angevine and Noah McGoff and an RBI single by Curan Bradley gave the Riders a 2-0 lead after two innings.
“That was some clutch hitting right there,” Port Angeles coach Vic Reykdal said.
The Riders added the eventual winning run in the top of the fifth.
McGoff walked, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and moved to third on a Tanner Gochnour single.
Gochnour then stole second and McGoff broke for home.
“If we have that first and third situation and our guy goes [on a steal attempt] and they throw for second, we are going to try and take the shot at home,” Reykdal said.
Riders starting pitcher Travis Paynter allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven in 4 2/3 innings.
“Travis did a great job,” Reykdal said.
“We made three errors that extended innings on him, and one of their runs was unearned. A couple of the hits they just stuck the bats out there and poked them through.”
Reliever Curan Bradley came on with two on and two out in the fifth inning.
“We brought him in a little bit of a jam,” Reykdal said.
“He hit the first batter he faced, but then got the out and he faced the minimum six guys in the last two innings.”
Port Angeles (5-2, 11-3) sits alone in second place in the Olympic League 2A standings.
The Riders visit North Mason (1-7, 4-10) on Monday.
