JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The North Olympic 13U team allowed just four hits against Broomal-Newtown (Pa.), but couldn’t get a big hit to take advantage in a 4-1 loss in the team’s second game at the Babe Ruth 13U World Series.

North Olympic played much better than it did in its opening game Sunday, a 13-0 loss to Tallahassee, Fla., but only managed two hits against Broomal-Newtown. North Olympic had just one hit against Tallahassee.

The two losses mean North Olympic likely will have to win its next two games to move on to the elimination round. The team could get there with one win, but it would be difficult.

North Olympic next plays at 4 p.m. today (PDT) against a 13U team from Australia.

The trio of Gavin Doyle, Liam Shea and Julian Dominguez gave up just four hits against Broomal-Newtown, but they were hurt by 10 walks and an RBI double in the third inning.

Down 4-0 in the fifth inning, North Olympic rallied with a walk by Jacob Kimsey. He moved to third base on an error and came in to score on a clutch RBI single by Carson Greenstreet.

North Olympic had one last shot to get back in the game in the seventh inning. Kimsey got on base again after being hit by a pitch and Greenstreet followed up, getting on base on an error. But with the two runners on and two out, the game ended on a fielder’s choice.

North Olympic played well defensively, making zero errors. Shortstop Coleman Keate also turned a double play.

North Olympic also will play at 10:30 a.m. PDT on Wednesday against Stamford, Conn.

There are five teams in North Olympic’s National Division pool and the top three will move on to the elimination round, which will begin Thursday.

North Olympic earned the trip to Jamestown by winning the Pacific Northwest championship in late July in Meridian, Idaho, 10-8 over the Belgrade (Mont.) Bandits. North Olympic (12-8) came in to the Babe Ruth 13U World Series on an eight-game winning streak.
