JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The North Olympic 13U team got a win at the Babe Ruth World Series, but it appears the team will not move on to the elimination round after losing Wednesday 5-0 to Stamford, Conn.
North Olympic went 1-3 at the World Series in western New York, winning Tuesday night 12-6 over a team from Australia.
In Wednesday’s game, pitchers Jay Lieberman and Coleman Keate did well, allowing just three earned runs. However, North Olympic made six errors after it had previously played two solid defensive games.
North Olympic also managed just two hits against Stamford’s pitching. In fact, North Olympic ran into solid pitching through most of the World Series, collecting just five hits in its three losses. The bats did wake up with eight hits against Australia.
Keate went three innings, allowing two hits and striking out one. Lieberman went four innings, allowing four hits and allowing three earned runs.
At the plate, Jacob Kimsey and Carson Greenstreet had North Olympic’s hits.
On Sunday, Tallahassee, Fla., beat North Olympic 13-0, and on Monday, North Olympic was beaten 4-1 by Broomall-Newtown, Pa.

Tuesday’s game
North Olympic was locked in a 3-3 tie Tuesday night against Australia when the Port Angeles-based team erupted for six runs in the fifth to take command of the game. North Olympic batted around in the inning with three hits, a walk and two hit batsmen. The biggest blow came on a bases-loaded RBI single by Greenstreet, with two runs coming in on an error after Greenstreet’s hit.
Australia got three of those runs back in the bottom of the fifth inning, but in the sixth, pitcher Kyler Williams bore down, getting Australia out three up and three down.
North Olympic got three insurance runs in the seventh inning with Gavin Doyle providing the big blow, a two-run double to make it 12-6. Lieberman pitched a perfect one-two-three inning in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the win.
Williams finished 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Greenstreet was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Brycen Allen was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Tristan Konopaski and Noah Kiser each had two RBIs and a stolen base.
