ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: Patience and Courtney Swan, Neah Bay girls basketball

Courtney and Patience Swan were a big part of the Neah Bay girls’ success this year and they were a big part of the Red Devils finishing third at the Class 1B State Tournament this weekend.

Courtney had a great state tournament, averaging. In the Red Devils’ 63-51 win against Sunnyside Christian that sent Neah Bay to the 1B semifinals, Courtney had 12 points and nine assists.

Courtney and Patience then combined for some big numbers in the Red Devils’ third-place game against Almira/Coulee-Hartline on Saturday.

Courtney had 13 points and five rebounds, while Patience came off the bench to have a huge game with 16 points and six rebounds in a 67-56 win.

Courtney and Patience are part of a group of 10 sophomores and freshmen on the Red Devils team, who return every single player to a squad that finished third in the state. The sky is the limit for this team for the next two years.
