ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: Nate Dahlgren and Walker Wheeler, Forks football

Forks running backs Nate Dahlgren and Walker Wheeler look to be a devastating one-two punch for the Spartans this season.

If the Spartans’ season opener is any indication, Pacific 2B League teams are going to have their hands full trying to contain the Forks duo working out of a single wing offense the Spartans have adopted this year.

The pair combined for 301 yards rushing and four touchdowns in Forks’ 32-14 win Friday night over Sequim, earning our first Athletes of the Week honor for the 2022-23 school year.

Walker scored touchdowns of 50 yards and 45 yards in the first quarter. He finished up with 114 yards rushing on seven carries.

Dahlgren, a workhorse who ran for more than 1,000 yards last season for Forks, scored touchdowns on runs of 19 and 23 yards. He finished with 187 yards rushing on 31 carries.
