ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: Miranda Tyree, Clallam Bay and Noa Montoya, Port Townsend

Miranda Tyree made history for the Clallam Bay football team this weekend, scoring a two-point conversion for the Bruins in their game against Crescent. That is believed to be the first points ever scored for the Bruins football team by a girl.

It’s been a challenge for Clallam Bay to field a six-person team, but the Bruins are back and have a slate of five games on their schedule.

Tyree, who also runs track and plays volleyball for the Bruins, caught a pass for her two-point conversion.

Meanwhile, Port Townsend quarterback Noa Montoya had a monster game against Vashon to help the Redhawks win

40-13. Montoya threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more as Port Townsend remained undefeated in league.

Montoya, also one of the best defensive backs in the Olympic/Nisqually 1A League, ended the game with 93 yards rushing on 12 carries and 184 yards through the air on 8-for-13 passing.
