ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: (Updated) Allie Greene, Amber Swan, Neah Bay girls basketball

Allie Greene and Amber Swan are just two of the reasons the Neah Bay girls basketball team is 14-1 on the season and ranked No. 1 in Ratings Percentage Index in the state. The Red Devils’ only loss this year has been to Sequim, a 16-0 2A team.

In a 60-41 win over Port Angeles on Saturday, Greene hit four 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 16 points, leading the Red Devils in scoring as she has most of the year with her outside shooting. Greene has had games of 24 points (Chief Leschi), 23 points (Coupeville) and 27 points (Moses Lake Christian) this season.

Swan had one of her best games of the year Saturday with a rare high school triple-double. She had 15 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists against the Roughriders.

Neah Bay made it to the 1B state championship game last year and is not shy about wanting to get back to the title game this year.

Athletes of the Week is sponsored by Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles.
