ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ryana Moss, Neah Bay girls basketball

Neah Bay’s Ryana Moss is a big part of the reason that the Red Devils are ranked No. 1 in the state in girls basketball.

Moss had an especially big week last week for the Red Devils, first by getting named the North Olympic League MVP. She fills up the scorebook in a variety of categories and is the senior leader of a very deep and talented Neah Bay team looking to repeat as the 1B state champions. Moss has averaged a solid 14.4 points a game, 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists this season.

On Feb. 17, she led Neah Bay by hitting three 3-pointers and scoring 15 points to go with seven rebounds and three steals as the Red Devils dominated No. 2 Mount Vernon Christian 61-30 in the tri-district tournament championship game.

In the regional round Friday, Moss again hit three 3-pointers, leading the team in scoring with 13 points to go with seven rebounds and four steals, again in another dominant 44-23 win over No. 4 Curlew.

Neah Bay begins its run to a potential second straight state title in the quarterfinals at the Spokane Arena on Thursday.
