ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Morgan Bingham, Sequim Track and Field

Morgan Bingham

Morgan Bingham

Sequim distance runner Morgan Bingham had an amazing track meet at Klahowya on April 27th and she surely slept well thatnight. She ran a total of 6,000 meters (19,680 feet, nearly four miles) — the 800-meter run, the 1,600-meter run, the 3,200-meter run and the anchor leg of the Wolves’ 400-meter relay. Not only did she run in all four events, she came in first in allfour events.

Bingham has won a total of nine races so far this track season. Her and her brother Murray Bingham have combined for 19first-place finishes this season, mostly in distance events. Morgan also ran cross country for the Wolves, coming in first in twoOlympic League 2A meets and finishing 34th in the state.

The Athlete of the Week is brought to you by the sports department at the Peninsula Daily News along with the sponsorship of Swain’sGeneral Store, serving Clallam and Jefferson counties since 1957.
