ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Madison Cooke, Port Angeles girls basketball

Madison Cooke has really been coming on strong for the Port Angeles Roughriders girls basketball team this past week.

Against Bellevue on Saturday, she scored 16 points to go along with 17 rebounds. Against North Mason on Friday, she scored 24 points, her season high.

This isn’t a new trend for the Roughrider forward, who had a decent freshman year, but is really emerging as a sophomore.

She also had games of 18 against Tahoma and 22 against Hazen in late December. In four of her past five games, she averaged a cool 20.0 points per game.

Cooke is just one reason the Riders are 11-1 and 5-0 in the Olympic League 2A Division. They are also ranked No. 7 in RPI among 2A schools
