What an incredible week for Port Angeles baseball player Lucas Jarnigan.
It all began on April 29. Jarnigan came to bat in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded and two outs against North Kitsap with the Roughriders trailing 2-1 and needing to win to clinch the Olympic League 2A Division championship.
It’s a scenario every ballplayer dreams about and Jarnigan delivered with a hard chopper base hit to score two runs, winning the game and the league championship.
He followed that up with a monster game against Bremerton on Wednesday. He hit two home runs and a double, scored three runs and drove in five runs. He went 4 for 4 on the day.
Against Steilacoom in the WCD III 2A Tournament on Saturday, Jarnigan continued with the hot bat, going 2 for 3 with an RBI, helping the Roughriders qualify for state with an 11-6 win.
Over three games, Jarnigan has gone 7 for 8 with eight RBIs.
