Hayuk Minano has been a welcome newcomer for the undefeated Sequim boys’ soccer team.

Minano is an exchange student from Spain playing for the Wolves this year. He also played this winter on the Storm King elite soccer team made up of high-school age players from Sequim, Port Angeles and Forks.

The Wolves have gotten off to an undefeated start in their first three games in part because of Minano’s contributions.

In their season opener against Olympic, Minano had a goal and two assists and this weekend against Coupeville, Minano added a goal and another two assists to help beat Coupeville 4-2. In three games, he has already tallied a total of eight points.

Athlete of the Week is brought to you by the sports department at the Peninsula Daily News along with the sponsorship of Swain’s General Store serving Clallam and Jefferson counties since 1957.
