ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Gracie Long, Port Angeles Track and Field

Gracie Long

Gracie Long

Port Angeles’ Gracie Long has gotten off to a scorching start this track season.

Long has already won seven events in her first two track meets of the year. At the Port Angeles Invitational on March 17, Long won the high jump, the 1,500-meter run and the 1.5K steeplechase.

At a meet against Kingston, Coupeville and Olympic on March 23, Long continued her winning ways, taking first in the high jump again, the 1,500-meter run and 3,200-meter run, then showing her versatility, helped Port Angeles win the 4-by-400 relay.

This comes after a successful season in cross country, in which she won her third straight Olympic League 2A Division title.

The Athlete of the Week is brought to you by the sports department at the Peninsula Daily News along with the sponsorship of Swain’s General Store, serving Clallam and Jefferson counties since 1957.
