ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Elijah Flodstrom, Port Angeles baseball.

It was hard to single out just one player for the Port Angeles Roughriders baseball team for our Athlete of the Week, but we’re going with Elijah Flodstrom for getting the Riders off to a great start for the season.

Flodstrom started the Riders’ first game of the year against Bremerton, pitching three innings of no-hit ball to begin a staff no-hitter. Teammates Rylan Politika and Brian Guttorsmen completed the staff no-hitter.

Flodstrom struck out three in his three innings of work as the Roughriders won 10-0 to begin the season. He also had a hit and scored a run at the plate. The Riders followed up with a 10-6 win over Bremerton two days later on the road.

Flodstrom and his teamamtes return to Civic Field on Tuesday to take on Olympic.

Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles.
