ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Dalton Kilmer, Forks football

Dalton Kilmer

Dalton Kilmer

Dalton Kilmer played a huge role in helping the Forks Spartans win their first state playoff game since 2000 this weekend.

Kilmer had three interceptions, all the second half, as the Spartans held Goldendale scoreless in the half in a 35-20 Class 2B state playoff victory.

Kilmer, playing cornerback, returned one of his interceptions to midfield to set up a Forks touchdown drive. He also broke up a Goldendale pass on a fourth-and-two play to force a turnover on downs in the fourth quarter.

Kilmer also had a 40-yard touchdown reception in the first half on offense as a wide receiver.

Kilmer came in to the contest with four interceptions and now has seven to lead the Spartans. He is also leading the Spartans in receptions and receiving yards with 40 catches for 628 yards and six touchdowns coming in to the Goldendale win.

Kilmer and his teammates will play in the 2B quarterfinals against Napavine at Tiger Stadium in Centralia at 1 p.m. Saturday.
