ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Clallam Bay football player Ryan McCoy

Ryan McCoy was one busy, and probably exhausted athlete, last weekend for the Clallam Bay Bruins as the Bruins won their first six-man football game of the season, 72-38 over Evergreen Lutheran.

McCoy had 208 yards rushing on 12 carries for the Bruins. He also caught six passes for another 127 yards and he had a 55-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. That’s 390 yards of all-purpose yardage for McCoy. He also scored four touchdowns total.

And that’s not all, McCoy also had 12 tackles on defense, leading the Bruins again in that category. His coach Cal Ritter, calls him a “machine that never stops.” And in six-man football with only eight or nine kids on the roster, that’s important.

Athlete of the Week is brought to you by the sports department at the Peninsula Daily News along with the sponsorship of Swain’s General Store serving Clallam and Jefferson counties since 1957.
