ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Christy Grubb, Sequim softball

Sequim’s Christy Grubb had a monster game in helping the Wolves softball team beat 3A Bainbridge 10-2 on Friday.

Grubb went 4-for-5, including a home run and a triple, scored three runs, stole two bases and drove in a run.

She also caught the game and called Angel Wagner’s complete-game gem.

Grubb, who has had several brothers who have played baseball and other sports for Sequim, has been slugging for the Wolves all season with several multiple-hit games. She has been a big part of Sequim’s 8-5 start to the season.

She had three hits against North Mason on March 31, went 3-for-4 against Central Kitsap on March 26, and 3-for-4 with a home run against Bremerton on March 24. All that while playing a challenging defensive position at catcher.

Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles.
