Brayden Emery had huge shoes to fill this weekend for the Crescent Loggers, and boy did he.

Filling in for his older brother, Eric, at quarterback after Eric dislocated his knee, Brayden, just a sophomore, responded with the game of his life, engineering a near monumental upset of the Quilcene Rangers, who went to the state 1B semifinals last year.

Emery ran 23 times for 189 yards and scored touchdowns on runs of 53 and 15 yards as a shorthanded Loggers team battled the powerful Rangers to an 18-12 score. Emery also threw for 35 yards.

That was all in his first start as a quarterback.

On defense, he had seven solo tackles, deflected two passes and had an INT.
