Forks youth wrestling holds in-person signups

FORKS — Youth wrestling registration will be available in the Forks Elementary School lobby from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Nov. 14.

The program is open to boys and girls ages 5-13.

The cost is $65 for each wrestler and covers the club fee and a USA Wrestling insurance card.

Pump track closed

PORT ANGELES — Pre-winter preparations mean the Port Angeles Pump Track is closed through Sunday while a seal coating is applied to the pavement.

Pump track installer American Ramp Co. will perform the service.

This maintenance must be completed before the first winter freeze. The track will remain closed throughout the week to allow the coating to be applied and properly cured.

Register this month

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open through November for the Port Angeles Wrestling Club’s youth program for kids in grades K-8.

The cost is $150 per wrestler which includes a PAWC T-shirt and USA Wrestling card.

Practices are underway until Jan. 22, with the advanced group of wrestlers going until Feb. 19.

Practices are Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. for ages 5 to 8 and first-year 9-year-olds, and 6:45 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. from second-year 9-year-olds and kids 10 and older.

For the advanced group, second-year athletes 12 or older, the cost is $250 per wrestler, and there is an additional practice from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

Discounts are available for families with three or more participants. Scholarships also are available.

Evaluations in Sequim

SEQUIM — Sequim Youth Basketball will hold evaluations for its Rec League for boys and girls in grades K-4 on Saturday and Nov. 15 at Sequim Middle School.

Kids in grades K-2 will be evaluated from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with third- and fourth-graders from 10 a.m. to noon.

YMCA basketball

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open for the YMCA’s winter youth basketball program for boys and girls ages 3-14 in both Port Angeles and Sequim.

Kids ages 3-4 and 5-7 will play with a 25.5-inch basketball and a 6-foot hoop for the younger players and a 7-foot basket for older players.

There will be one practice per week, and after the first two weeks of practice, there will be games on Saturdays.

Registration is $70 for YMCA members, $90 for the public.

Players ages 8-14 will be divided by age group with two practices per week and games on Saturdays. A 9-foot hoop and a 27.5-inch ball will be used for ages 8-9, while a regulation hoop and a women’s basketball will be used for ages 10-14.

Registration is $80 for YMCA members, $100 for the public.

Registration ends Nov. 22.
