PAHS Hall of Fame Dinner tickets available

PORT ANGELES — Tickets remain for the Port Angeles High School Hall of Fame Dinner, scheduled for Aug. 16 at Civic Field.

Three Roughrider teams will be honored: the 1977 girls basketball team that was the first PAHS girls team to place at the state tournament; the 1972 football team that was ranked throughout the season; and the 1952 boys basketball team that was ranked No. 1 in the state.

Nine individuals also will be inducted: Bob Blackburn, track, 1975; Mike Chamberlin, swimming, 1968; Gus Kravas, basketball, 1960; Steve Johansen, basketball, 1972; Jodie Jones, softball, 2003; Bob Lovell, football, 1965; Adam Macomber, football, 2005; Bob Spencer, swimming, 1970; Susan Wilson Childers, badminton, 1966.

Car wash in Quilcene

QUILCENE — The Quilcene High School cheer team will hold a car wash fundraiser in the school’s front parking lot Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The squad is raising funds for new cheer uniforms.

BMX open house

PORT ANGELES — A beginners-only BMX open house for ages 3-17 will be hosted by Lincoln Park BMX, 1798 W. Lauridsen Blvd., from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The public is welcome to tour the facility, test out the track and learn more about program offerings such as the upcoming BMX Racing League.

Equipment, including loaner bikes and helmets, will be provided.

Trails coalition meets

FORKS — The Peninsula Trails Coalition will provide updates on the progress of the Olympic Discovery Trail on the West End at an open house from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Congregational Church Fellowship Hall, 280 Spartan Ave.

Updates on the continuing development between Forks and La Push and the Forks extension will be discussed.

A special guest presentation highlighting regional efforts to connect the Olympic Discovery Trail to the broader Puget Sound trail network will be given by Steve Durrant, project director of The Puget Sound to Pacific Collaborative.

Following the open house, the coalition board will hold its regular August meeting. The public is welcome to attend.

Mud drags at fair

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jeff Co 4×4 Club will present mud drags during the Jefferson County Fair on Sunday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 4907 Landes St.

Gates will open at 8 a.m., and racing will begin at 11 a.m.

The mud drags will have classes for 4- , 6- and 8-cylinder vehicles, plus an open class, kids’ quads and lap sitters.

Entry fees are $30 per class. Kids race for free.

Pit passes are $20.

Admission is included in the price of a ticket to the Jefferson County Fair.
