3 Neah Bay spikers named to All-State
NEAH BAY — Three Neah Bay volleyball players have earned all-state honors from the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association.
Junior libero Grace Buzzell and sophomore outside hitter Oceanna Aguirre were selected to the Class 1B All-State Second Team.
Junior setter Cei’J Gagnon was an honorable mention selection for the Red Devils.
Neah Bay went 16-7 and advanced to the state tournament this fall.
Chimacum survey
CHIMACUM — With Chimacum High School set to be re-classified as a Class 2B school in the 2020-2024 Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) enrollment cycle, Cowboys athletic programs are exploring potential league possibilities.
A one-question survey to gauge potential league options for the 2020-21 school year and beyond can be found online.
Hoops clinic
CHIMACUM — Chimacum’s Big Blue Boosters are sponsoring free youth basketball training clinics with Ashley Corrall, a former McDonald’s All-American who played college basketball at Southern Cal.
Saturday’s training clinic has two sessions at the Chimacum High School gym, 91 West Valley Road.
Boys and girls in fifth through eighth grades will train from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and high school boys and girls will go from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Each session is limited to 30 players.
Players should bring clean basketball shoes and come dressed in athletic attire.

Port Townsend wrestling
PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend wrestled well in two dual-meet losses against strong programs, missing out on points and potential victories due to a small roster of wrestlers.
The Redhawks fell 46-36 to Class 2A North Mason despite winning more matches than the Bulldogs and 48-22 in a meet against North Kitsap and 42-31 and 51-24 in a double-dual match with 1A powers Sultan and Granite Falls.
“We wrestled great and it was a lot closer than the scores suggest,” Port Townsend coach Steve Grimm said. “With North Mason we won more matches but had to give up points because we didn’t have all the weight classes filled.”
Grimm said sophomore Logan Massie went 4-0 in the two matches at 145 pounds.
Kyle Caldwell, a Chimacum athlete who competes for Port Townsend, went 3-1 at 195 pounds.
Port Townsend’s two girls wrestlers each won matches.
Savannah Hoffman went 1-1 at 116 pounds.
“Her first match was lost in OT, she was close to being 2-0,” Grimm said. “Her win came when she beat a Vashon girl’s wrestler.
“Freshman Chloe Lampert at 135 pounds won a major girls match defeating a senior girl from Granite Falls. Both Chloe and Savannah are starting to get wins and are wrestling impressively,” Grimm said.
Port Townsend wrestles away at Klahowya today and competes at the Hammerhead Invitational at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds on Friday and Saturday.
