AREA SPORTS: Sequim Junior Soccer holding dinner/auction fundraiser Oct. 11

SEQUIM — Sequim Junior Soccer will hold a dinner and auction fundraiser complete with a meal catered by chef Kathryn Kitt at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., on Oct. 11.

Kitt formerly owned and operated Sweet Beginnings Cafe inside the Olympic Medical Center building in Sequim. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

Dinner will include a light charcuterie board, salad, baguette with truffle butter, beef tenderloin, wild caught salmon, wild rice, garlic roasted vegetables and a seasonal vegetarian option upon request.

Desserts will be donated by Sequim and Port Angeles bakers for each table to do combined bidding to win the rights to pick your tables’ dessert before other tables.

Finn River hard cider, ice water and coffee are included.

Beer and wine also will be available for purpose.

Tickets are $100 per person or $550 for a table of six.

Raffle extended

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles boys basketball team is holding its annual firewood fundraiser, raffling off three separate cords of split 16- to 18-inch maple firewood.

The drawing and delivery (within 10 miles of Port Angeles) is set Oct. 13.

Tickets are $5 per ticket, five for $20 or 15 for $40 and are available by calling/texting head coach Kasey Ulin at 360-640-1845 or by contacting a Roughriders basketball player.

Ticket buyers provide name, contact number and address on each raffle ticket for contact purposes.

YMCA youth hoops

PORT ANGELES — Registration for Olympic Peninsula YMCA’s youth basketball leagues is open through Monday.

The YMCA offers coed leagues for Kinderhoops, grades 1-2, 3-4 and boys and girls offerings for grades 5-6.

Kinderhoops fees are $55 for YMCA members, $70 for nonmembers.

The Kinderhoops season will run from Oct. 21 through Nov. 30.

All other leagues are $65 for YMCA members or $80 for the public. They will run from Oct. 21 through Dec. 14.
