Registration open for North Olympic baseball

PORT ANGELES — Registration is underway for North Olympic Baseball & Softball’s spring 2023 season.

Skills tryouts for softball and baseball are planned in late February and March at the Lower Elwha’s Billy Whiteshoes Memorial Park.

Softball tryout dates are Feb. 25 and March 4.

Baseball tryout dates are Feb. 26 and March 5.

Volleyball playoffs

PORT ANGELES — Elwha Food & Fuel and Wings Up advanced to the winner’s bracket final of the Peninsula Volleyball League B Division playoffs with wins on Tuesday night at Peninsula College.

The Elwha club knocked Steim Dental into the loser’s bracket with a 2-0 (25-18, 25-11) victory, while Wings Up did the same to I’m Missing Trivia For This 2-0 (25-15, 25-14).

In loser’s bracket matches, Steim Dental stayed alive in the tournament with a 2-1 win (13-25, 25-17, 15-7 ) over 7 Cedars Casino, and it was No Diggity coming back to beat Missing Trivia 2-1 (16-25, 25-19, 15-4).

The tournament continues next Tuesday with Elwha vs. Wings Up and Steim vs. No Diggity at 7 p.m. The championship will be held on Jan. 31.

Roller skate tonight

PORT TOWNSEND — An evening of roller skating is planned tonight at the American Legion Hall in Port Townsend, 209 Monroe St., from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

All ages are welcome to attend. Admission is by donation with a suggested amount of $5.

Skates will not be provided.

All skate wheels must be 72A-80A style and wheels need to be washed before skating on the Hall’s wooden dance/concert floor.

Soccer academy

PORT ANGELES — Registration is underway for the Peninsula Soccer Academy offered by the Port Angeles Youth Soccer Club and Peninsula College.

This developmental program is designed for players interested in enhancing their skills and knowledge in a learning-based environment.

Academy sessions consist of skill-based drills and small-sided games and are coached by the players and coaches of Peninsula College.

The academy is open to players in U6 through U15 age groups (2009-2018), and registration is $75 per player, which includes a T-shirt.

Training will run from April 10 through May 25 with sessions from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
