ODESSA, Texas — Port Angeles’ Ethan Flodstrom finished his first season with NCAA Division II University of Texas Permian Basin with a flourish, earning selection as Lonestar Conference Baseball Player of the Week on May 1.

Flodstrom had a huge final weekend for the Falcons collecting a home run, two triples, five doubles and 14 RBIs to fuel UT Permian Basin to its first series sweep since 2016.

Flodstrom also scored seven runs, with a walk and stole a base against Oklahoma Christian. He had 12 hits — three in each of the four games — and struck out only once over 18 at-bats.

A 2020 graduate of Port Angeles High School, the former Peninsula Daily News All-Peninsula Baseball MVP, played two seasons at Tacoma Community College and two summers with the Port Angeles Lefties before transferring to play for UT Permian Basin.

Flodstrom shined at the plate for the Falcons, starting in the outfield in 41 of the 43 games he played and hitting for a .407 batting average with an on-base percentage of .497, both good for seventh overall individually in the 13-team Lonestar Conference.

His batting average led UT Permian Basin and Flodstrom also led the Falcons in RBI with 43, along with one home run, two triples, 10 doubles and 10 stolen bases in 13 attempts.
