Paddlers meeting

AGNEW — Jesse Wiegel will tell tales about two major races at the next Olympic Peninsula Paddlers meet set for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Solana Clubhouse, 135 Solana Parkway.

Wiegel spent nearly a decade teaching maritime skills aboard traditional sailing vessels and as a lead instructor for Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in Maine before landing back home on the Olympic Peninsula.

UW soccer moves on

Joe Dale’s goal on the fifth attempt of the shootout sent the Washington men’s soccer team past Michigan State and into the Big Ten tournament semifinals with a dramatic finish Thursday at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill.

After the Huskies (9-4-5, 5-3-3 Big Ten) the fourth-seeded Huskies will next face top-seeded Ohio State in the Big Ten semifinals on Sunday. The Buckeyes are also ranked No. 1 nationally.
