PORT TOWNSEND — A full day of mud drag racing will be offered by the Tonka Toyz 4×4 Club Sunday as part of the Jefferson County Fair.
Admission to the mud drags is covered with a fair ticket. Fair admission is $17 for a multi-day pass with Sunday’s barbecue meal included; $8 adults, $6 for age 65 and older and students 13-17, $2 for children 6 to 12 and free for 5 and younger.
The four-lane drags will include a lapsitter class, a kids class and a street and open class for trucks, based on engine size.
A new obstacle course and a mud play pit will be open for anyone with a pit pass.
Entry fees for drag racers are $40 and include one pit pass for the driver. Adding additional classes are $20, and additional pit passes are $20.
Kids race free and must be accompanied by an adult.
Testing begins at 8 a.m. for the drags, with racing beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The Jefferson County Fairgrounds is located at 4907 Landes St. in Port Townsend.
Football showcase set
SEQUIM — A football showcase training event for players entering fifth through 12th grades will be offered at the Albert Haller Playfields, 500 N. Blake Ave., from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday.
The event is presented by Gridiron Sports + Performance with former college football players providing instruction and leading drills.
Players should bring cleats and water.
These showcases also select players for postseason all-star games held in Las Vegas, Dallas and other cities in December and January.

BMX clinic set
PORT ANGELES — Registration is underway for a two-day BMX clinic with 2016 U.S. Olympian Jeff Upshaw, coach of Driven Cycling Academy.
The clinic will be held at Lincoln Park BMX, 1798 W. Lauridsen Blvd., from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 10 and noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 11.
Upshaw will cover gates, cornering, pumping, jumping, manualing and race craft.
Registration is $55 each day or $100 for both days, and the clinic is limited to 40 riders.

Tomlin, Washburn win
SEQUIM — Sunland Golf & Country Club’s Jay Tomlin teamed with Port Ludlow Golf Club’s Shelton Washburn to win the 2022 Men’s Member-Guest Golf Tournament.
Tomlin fired a 75 and Washburn a 1-under-par 71 for a gross total of 146.
Jed Jennings and David Kunesh posted net rounds of 60 and 69 for the overall Net championship.
Doug Winter and Mike Moreno teamed for a First Flight Gross title (149), while Bruce Mullikin and John Dmohowski (13) won the First Flight Net crown.
Tony Bubenas and Bryan Hesse won the Second Flight Gross title (162), while Mike Bresnahan and Bill Bombardier (135) were the Net winners.
In the Women’s Division, Irene Schmidt and Jane Peoples posted rounds of 77 and 75 (152) to take the overall gross title. Judy Flanders and Mary Ceccanti won the net competition with scores of 66 and 65 (131).
Bobbie Piety and Lisa Chon won the First Flight Gross title with 162; while Cyndi Carpine and Kim Mishko (136) edged Alice Myers and Marine Hirschfeld (137) for First Flight Net champs.
