AREA SPORTS: Motorcyclist Anstett rockets to Hillclimb victories

SUNNYSIDE — Port Angeles’ Jake Anstett blistered the field in the Pro 450 CC category at the Washington Nitro Nationals Motorcycle Hillclimb this weekend, dominating in that race and also earning a number of top three finishes over two days of racing.

Anstett picked up Round One victories in the 450 Pro, 700 Pro and X Climb and was third in Premier.

Anstett was second in Round Two in Premier and 700 Pro divisions and ninth in X Climb.

The pro moto driver won a bronze medal in the snowclimb in the X Games in 2019 and was the 2018 North America Hillclimbers’ Association Rider of the Year.

Pirate golf tournament

SEQUIM — The Peninsula College Pirates Athletics Association will host its annual Pirate Golf Tournament, a four-person scramble format event, at The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course on May 31.

The tournament, typically the second-largest fundraising event for Peninsula College Athletics, has a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Registration is $100 per player, $400 per foursome.

Lunch is included.

A mega putt contest will be held and prizes will be awarded.

PC hoops camps

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College will host youth basketball camps for boys and girls ages 7-to-13 from July 7-11 and Aug. 4-8.

The camps will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

Sequim senior softball

SEQUIM — Seniors of all ability levels interested in playing softball are welcome to play in the Sequim Grey Wolves Senior Softball group’s twice weekly outings at Carrie Blake Park.

The group, open to men ages 55 and older and women 45 and older, plays every Tuesday and Thursday year round (weather permitting).

Bats and gloves are available to use.

Batting practice begins at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up games begin at 9 a.m.
