Local 155 earns walk-off win in Babe Ruth action

PORT ANGELES — Jaron Tolliver doubled Carson Waddell home from second base to lift Local 155 to a 5-4 walk-off win over Swain’s in Olympic Junior Babe Ruth baseball at Volunteer Park.

Waddell also stole four bases and started on the mound for Local 155, giving up two runs to Swain’s in the first on an Ethan Swenson single and a Jensen Wolfe walk.

Local tied the game at 2-all in its half of the first when Landon Eastman doubled home Felix Gonzales and Alik Ross.

An Asher Irvine sacrifice bunt scored Eastman in the third inning to put Local up 3-2.

Gonzales went four shutout innings in relief, scattering three hits while striking out five and walking none.

For Swain’s, Diego Waterkotee led with two runs batted in and two hits, Swenson collected three hits, and Van Johnson also reached with a base hit.

Olympic Junior Babe Ruth’s Les Shore Memorial End-of-Season Tournament starts today with games at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and continues Tuesday and Wednesday — all leading to the tournament championship on June 11.

Port Angeles tied the game at 2-all in the seventh when Kosei Suzuki led off the inning with a walk, moved to second on a passed ball and came home on Yahir Ramirez’s two-out single.

Suzuki also doubled and scored on a Zach Blair double to put the Lefties on the board in the second inning.
