PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles took advantage of seven Redmond Dudes errors, a fan batted and reached base three times and Kam Koester notched the go-ahead double and a solo home run in the Lefties’ 8-7 win Sunday.
The Lefties’ lineup consisted of 10 batters for the non-league contest, including designated hitter Jon Whitehead, a fan who was awarded the start following an in-game promotional event victory Saturday night.
Whitehead reached base three times, moving over a base runner with a solid bunt and reaching on the pitcher’s throw to first base. He also recorded an RBI, walked and reached base on another Dudes’ error.
Port Angeles relief pitcher Cade Stuart recorded the win in his season debut, pitching three innings in which the Lefties scored five total runs.
The game’s losing pitcher was Jordan Chase after surrendering three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Port Angeles recorded three doubles and a sacrifice fly to secure the lead for good.
Ethan Young earned the save, pitching the final two innings.
The Lefties begin a three-game road series across the Strait of Juan de Fuca today against the Victoria Harbourcats.

Cedars weekly play
SEQUIM —The Cedars at Dungeness Women’s Golf Association played a game of “Odds Are It” during its weekly play.
Bev Handshumaker topped the field with a round of 32.5, including a birdie on No. 17 to edge Kim Mishko (34) and Pat Harrop-Schumacher at 38.5.
Mishko had the fewest number of putts with 31, while Handshumaker totaled 32.
Discovery Bay ladies
PORT TOWNSEND — Eleven ladies from the Discovery Bay Women’s Golf Club played a game of Low Net with all players teeing off from the forward silver tee boxes.
Gross scores for 18 holes ranged from 84 to 110 for the par-72 course. Low net scores with handicaps factored in ranged from 69 to 86.
Barb Aldrich won first place with a net 69. There was a three-way tie for second place at 74 by Jane Peoples, Dee Sweeney and Cindy Westwood. Wanda Synnestvedt won the low putts competition.
Ladies at Discovery Bay will be playing for the club championship in two 18-hole rounds later this month.
Level the Field benefit
SEQUIM — Sequim Association of Realtors Level the Field Golf Tournament is set for July 21 at The Cedars at Dungeness.
Proceeds from the four-person scramble event benefit Sequim’s Level the Field project to provide students in financial need with assistance to participate in extracurricular activities without worrying about money.
Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Entries are $100 per person. Sponsorships also are available.

OCS fundraiser
SEQUIM — Registration is underway for the Dan Hendrickson Memorial Golf Tournament, a fundraiser for Olympic Christian School.
The scramble-format tournament is open to all skill levels and will be held at The Cedars at Dungeness on Saturday, with registration opening at 7 a.m. and an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
The $100 per-player fee includes green fees, carts, range balls and lunch.
