Sekiu chinook retention limit now two per day
SEKIU — The daily hatchery chinook limit has been raised to two fish in Marine Area 5 (Sekiu) for the remainder of the fishery, the state Department of Fish and Wildlife announced Friday.
Marine Area 5 anglers have reached 34 percent of the total legal encounters (2,497 of 7,254) agreed to in the List of Agree Fisheries.
The bump in the hatchery chinook comes as catch rates and angler effort have dipped in Marine Area 5 after high catches during the opening weekend, according to Fish and Wildlife.
These rules will be in place through Aug. 15.
Cedars hosts WJGA Cup
SEQUIM — The Cedars at Dungeness will be the focal point of junior golf Tuesday and Wednesday as the course plays host to a reformatted Washington State Junior Golf Association Cup.
The two-day 36-hole stroke play event will bring more than 190 boys and girls golfers ages 14-18 to the North Olympic Peninsula.
Divisions also exist for players ages 12-13 and 8-11.
Players will begin their rrounds from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. each day.
Spectators are welcome to attend, but must follow course and WJGA rules.
West End Football
FORKS — West End Youth League will hold registration for the upcoming Forks football season from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Duncan Field baseball shed.
The league offers flag football for ages 4-6, and C, B and A team football options for kids in grades one through seven.
Flag football is $35 per player, tackle football is $85. The fees do not include jerseys.
Open tennis at PAHS
PORT ANGELES — A series of open court tennis sessions hosted by Port Angeles High School boys tennis coach Brian Gundersen will run from Monday-through-Friday at the high school courts.
The sessions will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for any boys interested in playing tennis for the high school team this fall.
There is no sign up, just show up to play if you are interested and available.
Softball tryouts
PORT ANGELES — MGI Fastpitch will hold club tryouts for players ages 14-18 on softball fields six and seven at Lincoln Park today and Monday.
Ages 14-18 will go from noon to 1:30 p.m. today and 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
Pitchers and catchers should arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start.

Bob Cup benefit golf
SEQUIM — The eighth annual Bob Cup Golf Tournament on July 29 will raise funds for Special Olympics of Washington and the Clallam County Orcas.
The four-person scramble will have a 9 a.m. start with silent and live auctions following play at 2:30 p.m.
Live auction items include two round-trip tickets to any Alaska Airlines destination and a pair of Seahawks tickets.
The entry fee is $100 and includes a food and drink voucher, a raffle ticket, a putting contest, KP prizes and a long drive contest.
Additional raffle tickets also are available for purchase by players and non-players.
The tournament is held in honor of longtime Sequim resident Bob Duncan, a former Alaska Airlines pilot and advocate for those with special needs.

BMX track work
PORT ANGELES —The Lincoln Park BMX Track will work to create a weather-resistant surface during a series of volunteer work parties next week.
Timing system work will begin Monday, followed by gluing the track surface Wednesday through July 31.
Weekday work will begin at 5 p.m. while Saturday and Sunday will be full work days.
