Clallam Bay high school football coach and athletic director Brian Thomas has been recognized as a Week 4 Coach of the Week winner by the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington State Football Coaches’ Association

Each recipient receives a $500 donation to the school’s football program and will be honored on-field at a Seahawks home game with their fellow recipients.

Clallam Bay Bruins honored by Seahawks

SEATTLE — Clallam Bay high school football coach and athletic director Brian Thomas has been recognized as a Week 4 Coach of the Week winner by the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington State Football Coaches’ Association

Each recipient receives a $500 donation to the school’s football program and will be honored on-field at a Seahawks home game with their fellow recipients.

Thomas stepped up big for the Bruins when their former coach unexpectedly resigned this year. The six-man football team has clearly responded well outscoring opponents 179-0 and starting the season 3-0.

Prior to coaching at Clallam Bay, Thomas coached an recruited in the German Football League and NFL Europe.

He and his wife Dana have been married for 30 years have three sons and are both military veterans.

Clallam Bay hosts Mary M. Knight in a Coastal 6-man football game at 7 p.m. Friday.

Youth wrestling club

PORT ANGELES — In-person registration for Port Angeles Wrestling Club’s winter season will be held at the club’s location on the second floor at 112 Lincoln St. from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 4-5.

The club is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through eighth grade with practices held twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. Wrestlers ages 5 through 8 and first-year 9-year-olds will practice from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with second-year 9-year-olds and 10-and-older from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Registration is $130 per wrestler and includes a club T-shirt and a USA Wrestling membership card.

The season runs from Nov. 7 through Jan. 23 and includes optional weekend tournaments.

An advanced/competitive group for second-year wrestlers or ages 12-and-older also will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Feb 20. The cost is $200.

Discounts are available for families with three or more participants and scholarships also are available.

Cash/check is the preferred form of payment, debit/credit cards can be processed through Square with a service fee.

PA Booster BinGlo

PORT ANGELES — An evening BinGlo game Oct. 12 will raise money for the Port Angeles High School Football Booster Club’s scholarship fund for graduating seniors.

The cost is $20 per person for 10 games of glow-in-the-dark bingo. Prizes, a raffle and a 50/50 drawing also are planned.

The event is open to those of high school age or older.

Mud racing weekend

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jeff Co 4×4 Club will present a weekend of mud racing action at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 4907 Landes St., Oct. 26-27.

Gates open at 8 a.m. each day, with racing set to start at 11 a.m.

Admission is $10 for the public and pit passes are $20.

Saturday features mud drags for classes 4, 6, 8 and Open, and kids quads and lap sitter classes also will run. Entries are $30 per class.

Sunday’s racing features tough trucks in classes by tire size (39.5-inches and under and 40-inches and over) for $40 per class.
