AREA SPORTS: Car Wash takeover benefits East Jefferson’s batting cages

Night Golf tourney set March 9

PORT TOWNSEND — East Jefferson Rivals baseball players and members of the Class of 2024 will host a car wash takeover at The Car Wash, 515 Rainier St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Car Wash will donate 100 percent of the day’s sales, tips and donations to rebuilding the batting cages at Chimacum High School, the Rivals’ home field and main practice site.

The batting cage replacement is the senior project for East Jefferson seniors Brody Moore and Aaron Glanz.

Port Townsend Little League assessment

PORT TOWNSEND — The final in-person registration and player assessment for Port Townsend Little League’s baseball and softball offerings will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds baseball fields.

Registration is $100 for baseball and softball players and $60 for T-Ball. Additional siblings are $20 apiece for baseball and softball.

All baseball and softball players are required to attend an assessment.

Scholarships are available upon request.

First Sunday open course

PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend Golf Course will close for play (barring the driving range) at 1 p.m. Sunday for a First Sunday in the Park public opening.

The course will be open to walkers, disc golfers and there will be naturalist-guided tours of the Kah Tai Prairie Preserve.

Food and drink will be sold by the Blujay & the Bar Car food truck and leashed dogs are welcome.

Night golf tournament

SEQUIM — The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course will host a round of glow-in-the-dark golf open to every skill level at a Night Golf Tournament March 9.

The cost is $85 per player, $65 for members/employees, and includes greens fees, two drink tickets, awards, glow balls and sticks.

Players should bring their own clubs, flashlights and lanterns.

Due to liability, carts will be unavailable to rent.

Awards for most outrageous outfit will be given out.
