Redhawk youth wrestling camp begins Monday

PORT TOWNSEND — A monthlong youth wrestling camp for ages 5 and older taught by Port Townsend High School wrestling coach Steve Grimm and Redhawks wrestlers will begin Monday.

The camp will be held in the Port Townsend High School wrestling gym inside of Bruce Blevins Gymnasium, 1500 Van Ness St., from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday through Jan. 31.

Registration will be held Monday at the camp’s first session.

The cost is $40 per per child, $60 per family. Financial assistance is available, those in need should inquire at registration.

Wrestlers will be placed into groups according to age, weight and experience.

Family members are welcome to attend.

Medal design contest

PORT ANGELES — Children 12 and younger are invited to submit a design for the 2018 North Olympic Discovery Marathon’s Kids Medal Design Contest.

The winning design will be made into the 2018 Kids Marathon Medal that will be distributed to 500 kids on the Kids’ Marathon Race Day on Saturday, June 2.

The winning entrant will receive a free entry for the event and a gift basket with a special certificate, water bottle and other prizes.

There also will be prizes for second through fifth place.

Entries are available on the North Olympic Discovery Marathon’s Facebook page at tinyurl.com/PDN-KidsDesign.

Judges are looking for designs that highlight one or more of the following elements: running, fitness, kids, and what you may see along the Olympic Discovery Trail.

Entry forms must be mailed or delivered by Jan. 15.

They can be mailed to NODM, PO Box 431, Port Angeles, WA 98362 or dropped off in Port Angeles at Angeles Electric, 524 E. First St., or in Sequim at Dungeness Kids, 163 W. Washington St.
