Future Riders recaps

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Future Riders B and C squad youth football teams each earned wildcard playoff wins over Chimacum to advance to Saturday’s North Olympic Youth Football League semifinals in Sequim.

The Future Riders B squad found its rhythm in the run game early offensive and rolled to a 28-7 win over Chimacum.

Kade Acker, Ben Clemens, Landon Eastman, Asher Irvine and Landon Botero all contributed to the Future Riders’ rushing attack with big runs.

At quarterback, Acker has found a spark as a runner.

The team’s defense sealed the edges well with Carson Olson containing every run to his side at cornerback.

Persephone Perry was picked as the game’s MVP. The lone female player on the team played a nearly flawless game along both lines as a guard on offense and at defensive tackle.

The Future Riders C squad earned a 20-0 shutout against Chimacum.

Noah Kiser broke seven tackles on a 60-yard run for Port Angeles, while Conrad Kussin scored his first touchdown of the season.

Cooper Merritt and Zachary Page led the team in tackles on defense.

Pickleball benefit

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles pickleball players will hold a benefit tournament at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday to raise funds for Vebol and Shanna Bo of Sequim.

The Bos’ newborn daughter Ellie was born with a hole in her heart and is currently hospitalized at Seattle’s Childrens Medical Center.

The public is welcome to attend and offer donations to offset Ellie’s medical expenses.

Admission is by donation.
