Youth football championships slated in Forks
FORKS — The North Olympic Youth Football League’s Championship Saturday is set for Spartan Stadium in Forks.
Title contests get started at noon when the Neah Bay Warriors and Sequim Wolfpack meet for the C squad title.
At 2 p.m., the Port Angeles Future Riders and Sequim Wolfpack B squads will tangle for the championship.
In the finale, the Forks Spartans A squad will meet the Port Angeles Future Riders at 4 p.m.

Future Riders recaps
PORT ANGELES — Two Port Angeles Future Riders youth football teams advanced to their league championship games with wins in last weekend’s playoff semifinals.
The A squad (6-1) rallied for a 13-12 win over Sequim, overcoming a 12-0 deficit with 7 minutes to play. Brayden Martin rushed for two touchdowns and Oliver Martinez converted the game-winning extra point with 24 seconds left.
Port Angeles’ B squad got revenge for a one-TD regular season loss to the Neah Bay Warriors with a 47-13 blowout win.
Kade Acker, Ben Clemens and Logan Botero were part of a dominant rushing game for Port Angeles behind an offensive line that did an excellent job of stopping the blitz.
Lalo Dominguez was the game’s MVP. The tight end made a one-handed, diving grab for a 15-yard gain.
Port Angeles C squad lost a hard-fought game 12-7 to Sequim.
The offense struggled during the first part of the game, with Hunter Stone scoring a touchdown and Noah Kiser scoring the extra point late in the second half.
Cooper Merrit and Alex Kilmer led Port Angeles (5-3) on defense with numerous tackles.
PC’s Inoue honored
PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College’s Hide Inoue was named a Northwest Athletic Conference Soccer Athlete of the Week this week.
Inoue, a sophomore from Yamagata, Japan, registered a hat trick, his second of the season, in the Pirates’ 3-3 draw with Whatcom on Oct. 26. His three goals has him as the NWAC’s leading goal-scorer with 16 and leader in points with 34.
“Hide has been an attacking spark for us all season” said Pirates head coach Jake Hughes. “He is quick, technical and finishes his chances. We are extremely fortunate to have Hide in our program and we are excited about seeing Hide play on at the next level.”
