PORT ANGELES — The Wilder Seniors will go up against four other teams in the 2018 Dick Brown Memorial Firecraker Invitational at Civic Field from Thursday to Sunday.
Wilder, riding a seven-game winning streak and carrying a 9-2 overall record into the tournament, won the tournament last year. Wilder begins with an American League AAA League game against Prep Sports out of Seattle at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Wilder will play the Centerfield 16U Roosters (Vancouver, Wash.) at 4 p.m. Friday and Lakeside (Issaquah) at 7 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, Wilder will play the Centerfield Roosters (Vancouver, Wash.) at 7 p.m.
The Centerfield teams are Senior Babe Ruth clubs.
On Sunday will be elimination play beginning at 10 a.m.
The tournament raises funding for Wilder baseball.

OPTC qualifies five
TACOMA — Riley Pyeatt lead the Olympic Peninsula Track Club at the USA Track and Field Pacific Northwest qualifier in Tacoma this weekend.
Pyeatt’s best finish was second place in the 800 meters, with a personal record 2 minutes, 23.84 seconds.
Pyeatt also finished fifth in the long jump with a personal record 15 feet, 10½ inches. She also qualified in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.14 and had a personal record in the 200 meters as well, placing 15th with a time of 27.12
Eve Burke jumped a personal record 4-11 in the high jump to finish fourth. She also placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 15-9. Burke also ran a 27.27 200-meter run, placing 16th and a 13.22 in the 100 meters for 14th.
In the 13-14 age category, Bailee Larson qualified in the 200-meter hurdles, placing seventh with a time of personal-record 32.03. Larson also competed in the long jump with a mark of 13-9.
Jayde Gedelman qualified in the javelin throw, finishing fourth with a distance of 76-5.
Taryn Johnson competed in the 11-12 age group and just missed qualifying in the 800 meters. She won her preliminary heat, and eventually placed ninth with a personal-record 2:46.71. She also ran a personal record 400 meters in 1:11.29.
Birdie Pyeatt qualified to regionals in the 9-10 age group in the 400 meters. She placed seventh with a time of 1:21.94. She also came in 19th in the 100 meters with a personal-record 16.15 and in the long jump with a distance of 9-11, good for 14th.
The meet consisted of more than 500 competitors from 40 clubs in western Washington. The regional meet will be held July 5-9 in Bend, Ore.
