WIAA names Olson Athlete of the Week

CLALLAM BAY — Clallam Bay senior track and field athlete Hannah Olson was honored as a Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) Athlete of the Week winner.

Olson was honored for earning MVP at the Forks Lions Club Invitational after winning the javelin and long jump competitions.

Olson also recently signed to play college basketball for Walla Walla University.

OLC edges Boulevard

PORT ANGELES — Claire Bowechop struck out 13 in six innings in the circle as Olympic Labor Council edged Boulevard Wellness 10-7 in six innings in 12U softball action.

Heidi Leitz went 2 for 4 to lead OLC at the plate.

Mikkiah Stevens struck out five in six innings pitched for Boulevard.

Tranco beats Leitz

PORT ANGELES — A late three-run rally broke open a 6-6 tie and pushed Tranco Transmission past Leitz Farm Supply 9-8 in 12U softball action.

Nine different players scored runs for Tranco. Hollie Tietjen and Lillie Commerree had base hits for Tranco

Tatum Moses had four strikeouts in the first two innings for Tranco and Maryrose Halberg added five strikeouts over the next three innings.

Lynzee Reid struck out five while Bridget Weed added two strikeouts and Aubree Hebert struck out one batter for Leitz.

Lexie Smith and Lynzee Reid each earned base hits for Leitz.

Westport downs AC

PORT ANGELES — Westport beat Athletes Choice 7-3 in Olympic Junior Babe Ruth action this weekend.

For Athletes Choice, Elisha Dujue struck out five in 2 1/3 innings. Trenton Indelicato went 3 for 3 at the plate and Zane Glassock had two RBIs. Athletes Choice stole 10 bases in the loss.

Westport pitchers held Athletes Choice to three runs with pitcher Beckett Jarnigan leading the team with five strikeouts. He also had three RBIs at the plate. Ty Bradow had two hits. Westport is now undefeated at 3-0, while Athletes Choice goes to 1-1 for the season.
