AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Tuesday prep games canceled or postponed

PORT ANGELES — Several Tuesday prep basketball games were postponed or canceled because of snow and ice forecast Tuesday night and this morning.

Neah Bay at Port Angeles girls basketball and Sequim at Sumner boys basketball were both canceled. A boys basketball game between East Jefferson and North Mason was postponed to Dec. 5.

Continued snow and ice is expected the rest of the week and there could be other cancellations or postponements as winter sports are getting underway.

PA bowling results

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls bowling team hosted Klahowya on Monday afternoon at Laurel Lanes and fell 6-1.

Violet Mills, Paige Pangaro, Natalie Robinson, Taylor Worthington and Abby Robinson rallied to take the final Baker game (A Baker game is team scoring for a match) 136-106 against a talented Eagles team that finished fourth in the 1A/2A WIAA state tournament last season.

“The girls continue to give their best effort and improve daily,” said coach Becky Gundersen. She noted that Sophie Constant, Abby Robinson (155/279 series) and Worthington (144/262 series) all recorded season-high game scores during the match.

The Riders return to action Thursday against Bremerton in Silverdale.

PBL moves to playoffs

PORT ANGELES — In the final regular season game of the Peninsula Basketball League’s fall season, Strait Floors overwhelmed Adam Tree Services 100-34.

Jayson Brocklesby poured in 24 points and Chad Copeland added 22 to lead Strait Floors, formerly Anytime Fitness. Blake Peterson had eight to lead Adam Tree Services.

The PBL playoffs get underway tonight when 7 Cedars will take on Olympic Hearth at 7:30 p.m. and Black Diamond Electric tackles Big Barn Ballers at 8:30 p.m.

On Monday night, it will be Arrow Marine tipping off against Bayview Flooring at 7:30 p.m. and Strait Floors vs. Adams Tree Service at 8:30 p.m.
