Huskies head football coach DeBoer to appear in Bremerton

SEQUIM — The Sequim Sunshine Festival Sun Fun Color Run is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start on Saturday, March 5. The event will follow all state and county COVID safety restrictions.

This family friendly event begins and ends at Carrie Blake Community Park and has a 1K and a 5K option, with color stations along the course.

Registration includes a Sun Fun Color Run T-shirt, race bib, finisher medal, sunglasses, a neck gaiter face covering and a starting line color blast bag.

Event space is limited, and the event is expected to sell out.

Umpire training clinic

PORT ORCHARD — A free umpire training clinic will be hosted by District 2 Little League in Port Orchard on Saturday.

Doors open at 8:30 a.m. with the training running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the South Kitsap Western Minor Complex, 4647 Sidney Road SW.

Attendees should bring a plate mask and ball/strike indicator.

The objective of the session is to get trained, get confident, make friends, ask lots of questions and to have fun.

Lunch will not be provided, so attendees should bring their own lunch.

Bottled water will be provided.

No sharing of equipment will be allowed.

DeBoer in Bremerton

BREMERTON — New University of Washington football coach Kalen DeBoer will speak to the Kitsap Athletic Roundtable on Saturday, March 12.

The event will be held at 5 p.m. at the Kitsap Golf and Country Club. Tickets are $50 per person and include a buffet dinner with prime rib or chicken.

DeBoer was hired from Fresno State in December after the dismissal of former coach Jimmy Lake. He will talk about his decision to come to Seattle, expectations for the UW’s 2022 season and his career in coaching.
