AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Storm King Soccer tryouts are May 6-7 and other sports events on the North Olympic Peninsula

Storm King Soccer Club tryouts set for May 6-7

SEQUIM — Tryouts for the Storm King Soccer Club will be held the weekend of May 6-7 at the Agnew fields, 1240 N. Barr Road.

Players must register to tryout at www.stormkingsoccer.com.

Tryout times for boys and girls U12-U19 players are listed on the website.

Players must bring a copy of their birth certificate to the tryouts, as well as water, cleats, shin guards and weather-appropriate clothing.

Jim’s shades Labor

PORT ANGELES — Jim’s Pharmacy edged Olympic Labor Council 5-4 in 12U softball pitchers’ duel on Friday.

Taylor Worthington tossed 11 strikeouts in four innings pitched for Jim’s. Anne Edwards closed out the game.

Worthington added an RBI double, while Edwards went 3 for 3 with an inside-the-park home run and scored three runs.

Jaeda Elofson also singled and scored for Jim’s.

Peyton Rudd threw 13 strikeouts in a complete-game loss for OLC. She allowed only five hits and one walk.

Cynde Moore went 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI for OLC. Lily Thomas also singled.

Lions shuts down Local

PORT ANGELES —Three Lions pitchers combined to shutout Local 155 6-0 in a Cal Ripken Majors contest.

Kai Ferguson picked up the win, going two innings on the hill and allowing no runs on one hit while striking out three and walking zero. Elijah Dujue’ tossed three innings and Cole Beeman made his debut on the mound for Lions.

Kason Albaugh and Rylan Politka each rapped a double and drove in two RBIs, while Beeman drove in another run. Politika, Albaugh and Dujue’ all had two hits and Ferguson added a double.

Lions’ Jason Hawes and Zac Shortridge collected their first hits of the season.

For Local, Mason Sergi hit a triple but was out while attempting an inside-the-park homer. Miles Bowechop also singled for Local.
