Port Townsend ski bus sign up set for Dec. 2

PORT TOWNSEND — The Kiwanis Club of Port Townsend is sponsoring its 42nd annual Snow Sports program, returning to Stevens Pass Ski Area for six trips beginning Saturday, Jan. 6.

Cost for the transportation is $130 per person. Lift tickets must be purchased directly through Stevens Pass.

Up to 50 participants (including students in seventh grade or above) may sign up for the ski bus at the Rec Center, 620 Tyler St.) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants who are in sixth grade and younger must be accompanied by a paid adult or guardian on all trips.

PC student-athletes

PORT ANGELES — Eight Peninsula College women’s soccer players have earned 2017 Fall Sports Academic Excellence awards from the Northwest Athletic Conference.

Yasmin Escobar, Emilee Greve, Tatiana Hagan, Kelly Kevershan, Jayna Morikawa, Madelene Parton, Emelie Small and Sydney Warren were selecterd.

Qualifications for recognition are to be a sophomore in eligibility, have a minimum of 36 credits earned, a 3.25 cumulative GPA and be recommended by the college.

Basketball clinic set

PORT ANGELES — Former Seattle Storm and University of Southern California basketball player Ashley Corrall will lead one-hour training sessions for youth basketball players Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2-3.

The sessions will be held at the Warehouse Training Court, 519 E. Second St., in Port Angeles.

Corral is a 2008 graduate of Prairie High School, where she was named the Washington State Gatorade Player of the Year and a McDonald’s All-American.

After starring at USC, Corral played for the WNBA’s Seattle storm, Washington Mystics and Atlanta Dream. She also played professional basketball in China and Argentina.

Corral owns and operates AC Performance Training, and has trained WNBA stars like former Washington Husky Kelsey Plumb.

Sessions are $40 per player.
