Sequim’s Geraci golden at track masters event

SEQUIM — Sequim resident Pauline Geraci racked up three golds and a bronze at the 2018 Canadian Masters Track & Field Championships in Surrey, British Columbia, earlier this month.

Geraci, competing in the Women’s 55 division, took first in the 10,000-meter run (54 minutes, 48.69 seconds), 5,000-meter race walk (34:33.94) and 1,500-meter race walk (9:50.11). She also took bronze in the shot put (6.89 meters), placing two spots behind Canadian Masters record-holder Monica Pomietlarz (9.64).

PC basketball camp

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College Kids Basketball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, Aug. 20-24.

The camp is for players ages 6 through 16.

Players should bring gym shoes, a water bottle and a basketball.

College coaches and athletes will instruct the camp.

Anglers meeting tonight (Thursday)

SEQUIM — Bruce Bryant will discuss how to successfully fish for coho in the Strait of Juan de Fuca and off Swiftsure Bank at tonight’s meeting of the North Olympic Peninsula chapter of Puget Sound Anglers.

The meeting will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.

Viewing of raffle prizes and sharing of fish stories begins at 6:30 p.m. with Bryant’s talk following at 7 p.m.

Bryant is a chapter member and general manager of Platypus Marine.

He loves to fish and has donated fishing trips to the club for years.

After Bryant speaks and a break, a short business meeting will be held which includes a financial report, government relations report, upcoming events discussions and fishing reports from members.

The event is open to the public.

Fly Fishers meet

SEQUIM — The Sequim Greywolf Fly Fishers will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Masonic Lodge, 700 S. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

There will be a brief business meeting, followed by fishing reports on area lakes and favorite flies that successfully catch fish.

The remainder of meeting is reserved for individual fly-tying. Attendees may tie a fly of their choice (bring fly-tying equipment and materials), or observe this month’s tying event. There will also be a fly raffle and discussion.
