Sequim runner raising funds for food bank

SEQUIM — Sequim’s Marcus Oden will run to raise funds for the Sequim Food Bank in his fourth North Olympic Discovery Marathon on Sunday.

Oden is collecting donations for the food bank at fundly.com/running-hunger-out-of-town-2017.

To date, donors have raised more than $5,000 to help the food bank acheive its mission of providing food and assistance to individuals and organizations in the community.

Junior Sailing Program

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Yacht Club, 1305 Marine Drive, will host a free introduction to its Junior Sailing Program on Saturday.

Children ages 12 to 17 (or entering middle school in the fall) will get an introduction to parts of a boat, boating safety, sailing concepts and an on-the- water sailing experience.

Parents also are invited to attend and check out the club’s teaching boats including the Vanguard 15s, the Flying Junior and the Erickson 29.

Program instructor, team members and club members also will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the junior sailing program and upcoming summer camps.

Two sesssions are scheduled: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Summer gymnastics

PORT ANGELES — Registration is open for summer classes at Klahhane Gymnastics. Afternoon and evening classes for preschool through high school-age students will be offered Monday through Thursday starting June 26 and continuing through Aug. 17.

A parent/toddler class for ages 2 through 3 and a half will meet Monday mornings at 10:30 a.m.

Klahhane offers flexible summer scheduling. Parents can purchase a block of classes and schedule those classes individually throughout the summer to create a unique schedule around other activities and family vacations.

The class schedule is available at Klahhane Gymnastics, 3318 E. Acorn Lane or online at klahhanegymnastics.org.

Pre-registration in person and payment for all classes is required to reserve class space. Registration days and times are posted on the Klahhane web page at klahhanegymnastics.org.
