Travel softball tryouts set for Saturday in PA

PORT ANGELES — Tryouts for the 2016-17 10U, 12U and 14U Port Angeles fastpitch select softball teams will be held at the Lincoln Park fields from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m Saturday.

Girls ages 13-14 will go from 10 a.m. to noon; 11-12 from noon to 2 p.m. and 9 and 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (ages as of Dec. 31, 2016).

The coaches are looking for competitive athletes who love the game and are committed to working hard, improving their skills, being a team player and having fun.

Fort Flagler run

NORDLAND — Chimacum High School student Fah Lamaichampa is organizing a 5K fun run as her senior project.

The 5K Flagler Run will take place at Fort Flagler State Park, 10541 Flagler Road, on Sunday.

The race starts at 1 p.m.

The event will raise funds for the Feed the Child organization, Lamaichampa said in an email.

Crab Fest Fun Run

PORT ANGELES — Registration is underway for the Crab Fest 5K Fun Run in Port Angeles on Saturday, Oct. 8.

The event will begin at City Pier at 11 a.m.

Registration is $30 before Oct. 1, and $35 thereafter.

Runners also can register on the day of the race, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Registrants will receive a gift bag with a T-shirt, $5 coupon toward a crab dinner, free run at the Crab Derby and a drink ticket good for a beer, wine or soft drink.

Day-of T-shirts may be limited in size and style, so register in advance.

The 5K is open to all ages and running styles and will be an out-and-back along the waterfront trail, starting at City Pier in downtown Port Angeles.

Prizes will be awarded in four separate divisions: Under 40/Over 40 Women and Under 40/Over 40 Men.

The winning runner in each category will receive two free crab dinners and season passes for the 2016-17 Peninsula College men’s and women’s basketball season.

The event is sponsored by the Peninsula College Athletic Department, with event proceeds supporting student-athlete scholarships.
