Sasquatch Showdown row competition
PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association (OPRA) will present its first ever Sasquatch Showdown Erg sprint races, an indoor rowing competition open to the public set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday inside The Landing mall.
This friendly indoor competition welcomes all ages, rowers and non-rowers alike to compete on the group’s Concept 2 rowing machines.
The entry fee is $20 to sign up for 2K or 5K events.
Choose from start times of 9 a.m., 9:30 a.m. or 10 a.m.
Those who register as a team for the 5K will be able to have members’ average time tracked (as well as everyone’s individual times).
Free youth and team relays begin at 11 a.m.
Following the races will be a free beginner’s clinic (open to all).
OPRA Novice and Varsity teams compete in a series of erg sprint events beginning at noon.

Little League sign ups
PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend Little League will hold a skills assessment and on-site registration event for baseball and softball at the league’s fields at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday, March 3-4.
Port Townsend Little League is open to boys and girls ages 4-14 who either reside in Port Townsend or attend Port Townsend schools.
Prospective players will go through baseball drills and will be placed on teams that fit their ages and skill levels.
T-ball does not require a skills assessment and is open to new or inexperienced players between the ages of 4 and 7, while coed baseball is divided as follows:
• Minor Prep, with machine pitching, for ages 5-11.
• Minors, with player pitching, for ages 7-11.
• Majors for ages 9-12 and, subject to demand, subdivided into 50/70s for ages 11-13 and Juniors for ages 12-14.
Girls’ softball is broken down into Minors (ages 7-12), Majors (ages 9-12) and Juniors (ages 12-14).

A season-opening jamboree at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31 will honor former coach Richard Stickney, who died in 2014.
The season will run through late May or early June.
