AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Salt Creek 24 seeks volunteers

PORT ANGELES — There is still time to sign up for the Salt Creek 24 race to be held Oct. 25-26 at the Salt Creek Recreation Area west of Port Angeles, and the event is also looking for more volunteers.

This all-day and all-night event can be run individually or as part of a team along a 1.3-mile course through the recreation area. There is also the Last Man Standing 24-hour event in which competitors run to the top of nearby Striped Peak until only one runner is left going.

The event is put on by Peninsula Adventure Sports in partnership with the Rain Bear Running Club.

The title sponsor is Welly’s Real Fruit Ice Cream and the community partner is the North Olympic Healthcare Network. Olympus Plumbing, Buena Luz Bakery and Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles are all sponsors.

To volunteer, people can contact Lorrie Mittmann with Peninsula Adventure Sports at lorrie@peninsulaadventuresports.com.
