Hundreds compete in PA’s OAT Run

PORT ANGELES — The fourth annual Olympic Adventure Trail (OAT) Run drew 232 participants from around Washington, British Columbia and the western United States and as far away as Georgia and Minnesota.

Full results from the 12-kilometer and half-marathon events can be found on page B2.

Two upcoming events round out the Peninsula Adventure Sports Series.

The Great Olympic Adventure Trail (GOAT) Run, on Saturday, Sept. 17, is a full and half-marathon trail race that ends at Lake Crescent.

The Big Hurt returns to Port Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 24.

This multi-sport event features mountain biking, kayaking, road biking and a 10K run.

PC soccer camps

PORT ANGELES — Registration is underway for summer soccer camps with the Peninsula College Pirates.

Hosted by Port Angeles Youth Soccer Club, the camps for U8 through U16 players will be held at Wally Sigmar Field on the Peninsula College campus on two different weeks June 20-24 and Aug. 1-5.

Two age-specific sessions will be held at each camp, U8 and U9 players will train from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., while U10-U16 will practice from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The fee is $35 for U8 and U9 players, $99 for U10-16.

Registration for the June camp is available through June 19, while registration is open through July 31 for the August camp.

Basketball camp

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College Summer Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 7 through 16 is set for 9 a.m. to noon July 11-14.

The camp will be held in the Peninsula College gymnasium.

Participants will be taught good habits on and off the basketball court with a focus on ball handling, passing, shooting and defense.

Pirate coaches and players will instruct the camp.

The cost is $75.

Players should bring gym shoes, a water bottle and a basketball.
